Mum is the sole carer of her two children, aged 12 and 1. This family is currently experiencing significant hardship as a direct result of DFV, including physical (towards mum and child), psychological, financial abuse and coercive control. These ongoing experiences have had a profound impact on the wellbeing and stability of both the mother and her children. Mum has no family in Australia and due to DFV she has been isolated from having any friends in Australia.
Mum has demonstrated remarkable resilience in seeking safety and support; however, the effects of long term DFV have left her with limited resources and ongoing challenges in meeting the family’s basic needs. She is currently experiencing: financial hardship, difficulty meeting essential needs, mental health has been impacted and increased pressure as a sole caregiver.
