First Nations Support
2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred
A 44‑year‑old First Nations mother of nine, currently pregnant with her tenth child, is rebuilding her life after a recent house fire left her family displaced and without essentials. She is in the middle of moving while trying to keep her children, grandchildren, and the many pets she cares for safe and supported. Her life has been marked by significant adversity, including the heartbreaking loss of a baby, the suspected murder of her brother, and the trauma of having children removed from her care in the past. Despite these painful experiences, she remains a kind, compassionate woman who rarely asks for help, always putting others before herself. She is doing everything she can to hold her family together during this crisis, but the challenges are overwhelming. Support will help her rebuild stability, provide for her children, and create a safe home as she prepares to welcome her new baby.
