First Nations Grandfather exiting homelessness, requiring support to establish his home
First Nations Support
Client entered the homelessness system when his son encountered a major mental health crisis and became violent. He was unable to stay in his home and couch surfed until he came to our service for emergency accommodation. He is a construction worker, and caring father. He never gave up on his son, and they are reconciling now that his son has help and stopped drinking. He has continued to care for his daughter also, and his 4 year old granddaughter. He has recently been made an offer for long-term community housing. This means he can now rebuild his life, support his adult kids and gain employment. He wishes to work in construction for an Aboriginal Controlled Organisation through Dardi Munwarro and contribute to positive social modelling for young Aboriginal men.
He has some basics, but requires a couch and TV to make his new house a home.
