A couple had just retired owned 2 lovely houses and had a chunk of savings in the bank for retirement.
The devastating floods hit in 2022 and neither house was insured due to it costing $20k a year.
Both their physical and mental wellbeing went downhill including their marriage, they have no other choice but to continue living together in separate rooms.
They have spent their entire savings attempting to fix up the houses but have run out of money and only halfway complete. They are heavily in debt struggling just paying weekly bills. The Husband often goes without food so the Dog and cat can eat instead.
