Struggling Family needing support due to high medical costs for their children

A local family have 2 out of 3 young children requiring high medical attention. Their daughter was born with a heart defect, and although mostly managed, she does require constant monitoring. Their son is intellectually disabled, and he requires a lot of doctor and hospital appointments. Due to their rural location, the travel and accommodation costs along with the out of pocket medical costs can be financially debilitating; as the appointments can be anywhere from 2-6 hours away from home.
The family have budgeted and cut costs where they can; going without unnecessary items, downgrading to being a one phone, one car household and moving closer to the school so they don't need to drive.
As their son particularly gets older. His needs are greater and although they are registered with NDIS, the supports available don't cover his level of need. They are hoping that Telehealth appointments would be beneficial for their son, and lower their costs associated with the treatments.
