GIVIT
After fleeing Liberia and spending 15 years in a refugee camp, this 41yo woman is now an Australian citizen rebuilding her life. A single mother of five, she lives in Department of Housing with her 16yo daughter and 19yo son, and regularly cares for four young grandchildren while her adult children work.
Living on Centrelink benefits, she is studying English and computer literacy to improve her job prospects. She carries deep trauma from her past, including domestic violence and years of displacement, and now lives with depression and PTSD. In the past two years she has also been physically assaulted twice, leaving her feeling unsafe.
She also supports six orphaned relatives in Ghana who recently fled Boko Haram violence. With so many responsibilities, saving is impossible. Any support for this resilient woman would be greatly appreciated.
