We assist over 60 people each week with hardships relief, including food relief, cooked lunches and take-home meals,
GIVIT
Many people experiencing hardship are embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help, so when people do come to us for help, we don't like to turn them away. We provide food relief (including fresh produce from our community garden, and cooked meals), toiletries and pet food - when we can get them.
We are not funded for this and constantly seeking funding and/or goods to keep going. We recognise that most people in our community (and no doubt all communities!) that come to us for help are also experiencing issues with housing, mental health or social isolation, so when we can, we get specialist support in to help with those too, all within the same program. Our crew of friendly volunteers are quite often a part of the reason people keep coming back, it's not all about food relief, they also need someone to talk to and feel like a part of the community.
It amazes us to see how many people are going unnoticed living in cars, on boats and sleeping rough - and no one knows.
