Recipient story

Compassionate First Nations grandmother providing a safe home for grandchildren while facing grief and financial hardship.
First Nations Support
A First Nations grandmother in her 60s is the heart of her family, dedicating her life to caring for and supporting her grandchildren. Her home is more than just a house; it is a safe haven where family members can find stability, comfort, and connection. Some grandchildren live in her care, while others regularly turn to her home as a place of safety and support during difficult times.
Despite enduring the devastating loss of her partner and son, she continues to put the needs of her family first. She goes above and beyond providing care, guidance, and emotional support to multiple generations. Family is at the centre of everything she does, and she works tirelessly to ensure her grandchildren feel loved, secure, and connected to their family and culture.
Currently experiencing significant economic hardship, she is struggling to maintain her tenancy and manage the upkeep of a large property. Securing stable housing is vital for the family who rely on her home for safety and support.
