Donate to help people devastated by recent NSW flooding

GIVIT has partnered with the NSW Government to manage donations of essential goods for the communities of Coffs Harbour, Kempsey, Taree, Nambucca and other flood-affected towns in the region.

GIVIT is working directly with councils, recovery outreach teams, charities and community groups in impacted regions to find out exactly what’s needed by people affected by this recent flooding disaster.

In times of disaster, please do not drop or send donations into towns already devastated by the recent flooding in NSW.

Below is what happens when unrequested donations are dropped into areas already overwhelmed by disaster. Pictured are well-meaning donations from the 2022 Lismore floods in NSW. Unfortunately, this is a common image during recovery. Physical donations pile up, create storage issues, and overwhelm people on the ground. But what's the best way to help? GIVIT!

The GIVIT website captures flood donations needed for people who need a helping hand. You can fund what's requested, ensuring impacted people get exactly what they need - when they need it.

Head of Engagement Christina Spehr said GIVIT is managing donations that can overwhelm frontline services and distract them from their primary roles in response and recovery.

Please do not take or send unrequested goods into flood impacted areas. This is dangerous and can hamper rescue and recovery efforts.

This is a rapidly evolving situation and there is currently nowhere to store these donations, or people available to sort them.

Our message is very clear, if you want to help, please go to GIVIT.org.au to find out exactly what’s needed.

How can you give a flood donation to people who need it most?

To help people forced to restart after floodwaters inundated homes, donate to GIVIT’s NSW Flooding Appeal. 100% of publicly donated funds received by GIVIT being used to support affected communities.

Where possible, GIVIT uses donated funds to purchase goods from local businesses to support economic recovery. This is essential to rebuilding communities that have been destroyed by this unprecedented flooding in NSW.

If you have an item to donate that is not listed, please offer your goods donation here. If you are a local charity or frontline service in need of donated goods and services, please register here to request what's needed.
