First Nations Support
Other hardship(s)
Domestic & Family Violence
Aboriginal grandmother who is currently undergoing regular dialysis treatment and living on a limited income. She recently experienced a community violence incident that has significantly impacted her sense of safety and wellbeing. Since the incident she has become fearful of leaving her home and no longer feels safe attending local shops independently. She has expressed that an iPad or tablet would enable her to shop online for groceries and essential household items, reducing the need to leave her home and helping her feel safer. It would also allow her to access health information, telehealth services and stay connected with family and support networks reducing social isolation. The larger screen and print size would assist with her vision and make it easier for her to use online services. Due to her health issues, financial hardship and the ongoing impact of the incident, she is unable to purchase a device herself. This support would improve her safety independence and wellbeing.
