A young mother is preparing to welcome her children home in the coming weeks after they left her care as a result of family and domestic violence (FDV). She has shown incredible strength and determination, facing her trauma, engaging with support and working hard to make the changes needed to create a safe and stable home for her children. Their return home is a significant milestone and a reflection of how far she has come through an incredibly difficult period. As she prepares for their return, she is experiencing financial hardship and cannot afford some essential household items. While the Department has supported her in other areas, these practical needs fall outside the assistance they can provide. Providing these items would help her create a safe, welcoming and functional home where her children can return, rebuild routines and move forward together.
