I am currently supporting a young Aboriginal woman who has experienced homelessness for several years due to family violence.
She has recently secured an allocation of public housing, which will greatly increase her level of safety and provide her the opportunity to finally breathe, and focus on working through the trauma and other impacts the family violence has had on her health, mental health and wellbeing.
Due to leaving violence and experiencing homelessness for some time, she doesn't have access to all the things she needs for her new home.
We have managed to access some funds for big ticket items, but the clients dream and hope is to set up a beautiful home that is a safe haven for herself, with the things she loves around her.
We're requesting some funding to support her to establish the home with some necessities, some things for her pet dogs who have been able to return to her care, as well as some things to give the ambience of safety and comfort.
