Client with disability homeless after fleeing DV
Domestic & Family Violence
Our client lives with a disability. She fled domestic violence late last year and has been in temporary accommodation ever since while waiting for social housing. She is safe with our service now, however the many years of violence meant she had never accessed NDIS supports. This is now in progress but she has very little support compared to the level of care she needs. She is struggling with the extra costs that come from temporary accommodation (usually limited kitchen space/appliances to cook meals so many families have to purchase ready-meals or microwaveable, and pay for laundry usage).
