Born with sickle cell anaemia, she lives with chronic, unpredictable pain. An electric wheelchair is her lifeline; taxi-lift trips are costly when you live alone and pay every bill yourself. Cold days make everything worse. Most mornings start with medication at 8:00 am; most nights end with sleeping pills and the hope for a calmer tomorrow.
She’s waiting for surgery that may restore some mobility. Life feels small and lonely—too many hours indoors, her phone for company—but she’s determined to stay active.
