She is a 16-year-old young woman who is expecting her first child. She currently has Youth Justice commitments and is working hard to meet these requirements before her baby arrives. She is also preparing for motherhood and is currently applying for suitable housing to provide a safe and stable home for herself and her baby.
At present, she does not have access to a mobile phone, which is creating significant barriers to managing her responsibilities independently. Without a phone, she is finding it difficult to contact services, arrange and confirm appointments, communicate with support workers, and provide reliable contact details when completing housing and other important applications.
Access to a mobile phone would provide her with an essential means of communication and help her remain engaged with Youth Justice, housing services, health appointments and other supports. It would also support her independence and ability to prepare for the arrival of her baby.
