Flood impacted in May 2022, (farmer impacted by cumulative disasters).
Couple with three children under 8 living on a farm south of Laidley. Were impacted in the Black Summer Bushfires. This fire followed a period of serious drought that had already dwindled their savings. The November 21 and February 22 floods washed through their property and saw them cut off from town for weeks at a time. A call to check on them revealed the farmer had just begun to repair the soil and plant a fresh crop which has now been washed away in the May 22 floods.
This farmer rarely asks for help but has been continually hit by natural disaster after natural disaster. They are under intense emotional and financial stress and some vouchers would be useful while we try and link them to other supports.
