Resident impacted in February 2024 Storm event - Struggling financially and unable to afford to replace damaged heater.
Woman has been going through a very challenging time lately. due to all the damage caused by the storm to her house, she had to replace and repair everything herself. She is on a limited income and receives the DSP. This has caused her a lot of financial strain which has made it difficult for her to afford a heater, that was damaged in the storms. On top of this, she has been taking care of her elderly parents and running between different hospitals, which has been very stressful for her. Despite all this, she is trying her best to stay strong and positive.
One of the things that has been weighing on her mind is her mother's health. She feels that it's best for her mother to stay put instead of travelling back and forth, as it's exhausting and costly. She is finding it difficult to manage everything on her own, but having her mother with her has been a great comfort.
She herself is on Disability Support Payment and takes a lot of medication for her chronic pain and arthritis.
