Teenager experiencing secondary homeless and financial hardship following the passing of her father.
This young person has recently lost their father (and only remaining parent) due to a sudden and unexpected health event. They are now experiencing secondary homelessness, which is resulting in significant stress regarding housing and affording basic essential needs. Additionally, this young person is facing challenges with their extended family and therefore is left to navigate this extremely emotional/challenging time independently. The passing of their father has taken a substantial toll on their emotional wellbeing and the need for additional support is crucial.
This young person is continuing to attend school, as it not only provides them an education but has created a support system from their peers, teachers, and the Deadly Unit (Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Support). Although the school provides a strong protective factor for this young person, they would greatly benefit from the support of their community throughout this time.
