Family has been financially impacted by the power outage and storm damage.
Family of 2 adults and 2 teenage boys had just moved into their new home and had not secured insurance before the Victorian February storm hit. They lost almost $1,000 of food from their fridge and freezer, had to purchase a generator at a cost of $900 (this was to keep their water and sewerage pumps functioning). The cost of fuel to keep the generator running and for the chainsaws to clean up their property, their driveway and their street, has been astronomical and is ongoing as they are still cleaning up. The outlay has left them financially stretched and they do not have the means to financially afford the backlog of costs as a result.
