Older female moving into community housing from private rental, is on low income and has 3 dogs.
The older female has no family support. She is a resilient woman who has lived a hard life. When her parents passed away when she was 12, she went into a children's home. Eventually she was able to be adopted by a family member. Now, this older woman has been living alone in private rental. Due to increases in rental costs, and discrimination towards older tenants who are living off pensions, this person was unable to secure another tenancy and was facing homelessness in her car with 3 dogs. One week before her tenancy ended, the person was offered community housing. She is over the moon about it as her dogs can go with her and there are two bedrooms. However, she now has to pay for bond, removals, and other moving costs. She suffers from nerve pain and anxiety and has had a lot of expenses recently.
