To provide support for consumers with clothes from the mental health inpatient unit
As a health care service, we specialise in acute engagement and treatment for people with severe mental illness and high needs. Many of our consumers are homeless or come into hospital unexpectedly without clothes.
We are requesting donations to be able to purchase clothes as we have no funding to purchase these necessary items. Consumers loose their dignity when they are unable to wear clothing and therefore are disengaged in their recovery. Without adequate clothing, consumers of our service are left without the means of protecting from the environment and feeling comfortable around others. We are striving for an increase in consumers participating therapy by creating a safe space in the hospital. We currently do not have resources to do this. COVID-19 has made the circumstances much more difficult for the people we support.
