Resident resides in Aboriginal Housing with his partner and his young daughter. The storm in February caused a tree to fall on the roof and bonnet of his car, smashing the windscreen and making it un drivable. Resident did not have car insurance and has received a quote for $1600 to have it repaired. Resident has had to resign from his job as he was reliant on his car for travel to different work sites. The storm also caused damage to the roof of resident’s home. Resident is waiting for repairs to be completed on his roof and there is a tarp covering it to prevent water from rain entering the home. Residents power was lost for 3 days, and he and his family sustained loss of food from the fridge and freezer. Resident receives Disability support payment. He is engaged in financial counselling and is ineligible to get a NIL loan or an advance payment from Centrelink. Resident states due to his income it will take considerable time to financially recover from the storm impacts. thank you
