Aboriginal great-grandmother caring for two great-grandchildren
A loving great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren requires the occasional helping hand to ensure they receive everything they need to thrive. This woman is the matriarch of her family and has been described as the glue that keeps everyone together. Her home is a safe place for family to return in challenging times, and she works extremely hard to ensure she has enough to provide for everyone.
This woman is considered to be an Elder in her community and is a proud Aboriginal woman who participates in community activities and NAIDOC week events.
After a recent encounter with Child Protection, two children were placed in the care of their great-grandmother. Whilst this is a positive outcome, grandma needs support from outside organisations to ensure the children have enough food to eat, clothes, bedding and school supplies.
