Single Mum impacted in February 2024 Storm event - Struggling financially as a result and unable to afford basic needs.

Woman was impacted financially from the storm, states her power was out for 5 days, she lost all contents of fridge and freezer and the back fence on her ¼ ache property was damaged and is temporarily fixed. She reports her soup maker also blew up as it was in use at the time of the power outage/surge. She states that the soup maker was always in use as it means no food goers to waste and is an economical and healthy way to feed the household. She lives with her 38-year son and 29-year-old daughter. She is the carer for her 38-year-old son that has a disability and requires oversea at all times. She states her son was overseen and treated by the Royal Childrens Hospital from the age of 6 to 21 years of age due to brain tumour that led to further medical complications. She is reliant on Centrelink benefit due to the care required for her son and is unable to work due to this, therefore, unable to replenish lost foods and struggling financially.
