Funding for haircuts for vulnerable young persons in Northern Sydney
The young people within our care have many challenges to face, one of them often being a lack of self esteem. We have found a haircut can have a great impact, giving them a much needed boost to help them feel good about themselves. We are starting a new initiative, to try and offer the young people in our care a fresh haircut on entering and departing our services. On entering, they have often been homeless or couch-surfing for a period of time so a haircut uplifts them giving them renewed confidence to get their lives back on track. Upon departing our services, often young people have re-engaged with education and/or employment and a haircut at this time helps to give them the self assurance they need to try and achieve lasting independence.
