Single mother with child with complex needs struggling to adequately heat home

A caring, single mother living in regional NSW, is currently living off Carers payment and minimal part-time work to support her family and has little support within the community. Her son has complex behavioural concerns which require additional supports which also cause extra financial pressure.

Recently the gas heating in her home broke and the landlord refused to help so she has been slowly saving a large sum of money to cover cost of repair. Her ability to save the required sum continues to be interrupted by ongoing unexpected costs of daily living.

On top of caring for her child, she also has her own mental health concerns and is struggling to access the formal support she needs due to lack of services in the rural community. We want to provide the family with some petrol and grocery vouchers to get them through this hard time.
