Vulnerable persons in the Redlands significantly impacted by Cyclone Alfred require support with mobile phones
Vulnerable mother and young adult son recently escaped serious DFV and have been supported by Department of Housing into emergency temporary respite accommodation during Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Both vulnerable people experienced severe trauma due to DFV and have difficulties communicating with services verbally and rely on text messages for communication with support services. Both Mother and Son's mobile devices were damaged during the significant weather event making it difficult for all support services to make contact to assist them with their PTSD, mental health symptoms and assissting them into urgent sustainable accommodation. Currently processes are commencing to assist with welfare claims but are not finalised resulting in both Mother or son being unable to purchase phones to communicate with supports.
