Culture/Community Hub for Kupungarri Community affected by the Kimberley Floods

Kupungarri is a remote Aboriginal Community 300km along the Gibb River Rd, from Derby. It is the traditional home of many Ngarinyin people who still live on Wilinggin Country.
Unfortunately, our little community was severely affected by the flooding as a result of ex-TC Ellie, in January 2023. Many homes were flooded and personal possessions lost.
As a part of the healing process, several organisations within the community have rebuilt and renovated a dis-used house to create a Cultural Hub within community. This space is already being used as a place for community to come together. We want to finish off the space with fittings and equipment to create a space for community to create Cultural artefacts, carvings and paintings. Within the Cultural Hub, we plan to create an office space where digital archives can be accessed and shared, as well as a space to keep and store traditional artefacts. We also plan to run workshops for community members to develop their artistic skills.
