48 year old lady been homeless for 2.5 years, not able to find accommodation, and in desperate need of help
This lady had a successful career in housekeeping, she fled Domestic Violence and is homeless. This lady is a woman who we feel certain will regain her ability to contribute to the community, once she gets off the streets. On job seeker she does not have sufficient funds to pay rent and has been on the public housing waitlist for over 10 years. She has tried shared accommodation but had poor experiences. She said that boarding houses are unsafe and filled with people who are trying to push illegal substances. She says she feels safer on the streets but knows that she needs housing before she can be gainfully employed. It’s a full-time job being on the streets, as everything is a fight, getting somewhere safe and sheltered to stay each night, finding somewhere to shower, to find food, clothing etc. She says all of her things have been stolen numerous times so keeping her things safe is also an ongoing challenge.
This woman is still homeless and has applied for accommodation.
