Our Community Hub needs skilled and reliable volunteers
Our centre relies on skilled and reliable volunteers to MAKE THE MAGIC HAPPEN. We could not do what we do without them. Our funding doesn’t provide nearly enough staff to support our community adequately and without our volunteers, the paid staff would be burnt out in no time.
In fact, even with volunteers we currently have, the staff still can’t need current demands for crisis support that the community needs. We are overwhelmed often by requests for assistance with basic needs like food, shelter, clothing and an empathetic listening ear.
We need more help with day to day tasks such as cleaning; gardening; taking out the garbage; stocking and monitoring the community pantry; SecondBite collections, sorting fresh produce and filling the fridge; FoodBank orders, unpacking ordered/donated goods and getting rid of the cardboard; sweeping/blowing away leaves from the entryway; and a hundred other important things. And then; we may also need a pile of soil moved for the garden!
