Go bags for kids in emergency and foster care

ACT

Help make a huge difference to the lives of children entering emergency care and foster care.

Donate money or items for kids in emergency and foster care CanberraEvery year, numerous vulnerable children are placed in either emergency care or foster care in Canberra. Often there is no time to pack personal possessions or loved items. That means no favourite teddy, no doll, no fidget spinner, warm jumper or go-fast runners during a time when everything is already unfamiliar and scary.

This organisation provides 'Go Bags' to Child and Youth Protective Services, as well as distributing them to key locations in the ACT to be given out to children during this stressful time. These bags are filled with age and gender appropriate essential items such as nappies, books, underwear, toys, toiletries, and a teddy to help make this transition easier, and to bring a little bit of positivity in often difficult circumstances.

You can donate or FUND essential items needed to fill these bags below.

This organisation requests donations of new items only.

Children’s responses to the Go Bags are amazing. They have opened the bag and been thrilled to explore what’s inside and enjoy the novelty of having something that is special to them.

It’s so lovely to see how much joy the bags have brought to some kids because now they have their own bag and personal items. And when the kids and young people get the gift vouchers they are so excited.
